Transcription: The cow is a ruminant. It briefly chews its food and swallows it down. The food travels to the rumen and the reticulum where it is softened and lightly digested. Small food balls are formed which are regurgitated into the mouth at regular intervals. These are well chewed and swallowed when they travel back to the rumen and the reticulum. Next, the liquid nutrients flow into the omasum where water is extracted and finally enter the rennet bag, where digestive juices are released.
